film photography

Film photography is where I really feel I capture my ideas best. The unique color palette of each film stock and the ability to manipulate those with under or over exposure, the halation around lighting, even the imperfections and, of course, the grain. These all help create an image that, to me, feels like a moment frozen in time. “All pictures are a moment frozen in time,” I hear you say. Yes, but film feels like the whole moment, the whole memory, more than a digital capture. I’m sure I’m waxing poetic but 35mm film is my favorite artistic medium. Here is a small selection of my favorite shots and the shots I feel reflect my work best. I have listed the film and lens used for each picture on hover. My 50mm Nikkor f/1.4 is clearly a favorite here! Here is a larger gallery of my work, film and digital are mixed in this gallery.
